Goal: Create a personalized Wii character that resembled me

Interface: Nintendo Wii played through television in living room

Interaction: Using the motion controlled “Wiimote” I began the process of starting my character. Starting from the Main Menu, I selected the Mii Channel, and pressed start. This opens the Mii Channel allowing you to see all the characters created, edit current characters and create a new “Mii” persona. I selected “Create New Mii.” I then had to select the gender of my Mii character. This brought me to the character building menu where I began developing my Mii. Starting with the face options, which provide a variety of head shapes and complexion colors, I carefully selected the closest to my own. From there, the creator has the option of choosing the next step, from body shape, hair, eyebrows, eyes, nose, mouth, and accessories. The size and height options allow the creator to manipulate the size and height controls to create the appropriate shape. The other options offer a variety of facial “pieces” to put together the desired face. Once finishing my Mii character’s appearance, I had to name it, provide a birthday, select its favorite color, and determine whether or not my Mii will mingle with the other characters. The favorite color selection changes the color of the Mii characters clothes. This finished the process, so I selected quit, then save and quit.

Time: The aspect of time relied heavily on my own decisions and how long I chose to spend on the creation process. There was almost no loading time and the game system responded quite immediately with the controllers.

Experience: This experience, though unimportant, was positive and enjoyable. I had not really used a Wii before and was delighted a the ease of navigating the menus and controlling the “Wiimote.”
